We need you…

For more than 12 years, the University of York in America (UYA) has been working hard in collaboration with the University of York to help engage our community of 3,200 York alumni based in the US. We aim to recruit the next generation of students, and to help build important partnerships.

During that time donations amounting to $850,000 have been made towards University of York priorities. More than 75 students have received individual travel opportunities, 16 PhD students have been supported, and many other projects have benefited from the generosity of our alumni.

The UYA Board is made up of the Vice-Chancellor Professor Koen Lamberts, as President, and five exceptionally generous alumni, who lend their advocacy skills, their donations and their leadership abilities to advance our mission.

After being out of contact with York for a number of years – and not knowing much about how it had changed and developed – I was asked to be a founding member of the UYA Board. I have really enjoyed getting to know the leadership of the University, meeting staff and hearing about programs and campus development – huge and impressive changes since those small beginnings that we witnessed in the sixties! It’s also been great meeting York students in the US during their semester or year abroad (supported by UYA) and getting to know other alums who made the choice I made to work and live in the US. I love the fact that York has come so far in such a short time!”

In 2018 a number of members will step down from their roles, and we are now seeking expressions of interest to join the UYA Board from among our community of alumni and friends.

These volunteer roles will be integral to the development of York’s first major institutional campaign – more of which will be revealed in due course. If you feel that you’ve got what it takes to help raise York’s profile in the US, we would love to hear from you.
