In early March at the Ron Cooke Hub, Professor John Robinson, York’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching, Learning and Students, welcomed supporters, friends and alumni at the annual reception of the Heslington Circle, whose members have pledged a gift to the University in their will.
A range of speakers, from the Departments of Health Sciences, Psychology, Environment and Theatre, Film and Television, all of whom are pioneering new approaches to mental health research, displayed the range of areas in which we are building research capability across the University.
Creating a positive environment for all
Researchers and invited guests discussed ways to ensure a positive experience at York and create the best possible environment in which all of our staff and students will flourish, rendering the support of mental illness a priority across the University.
The guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in 360° virtual reality, to experience video projections, and to explore different urban environments using electroencephalography (EEG) – insights which allow for a deeper understanding of the impact of green and urban spaces on brain activity.
