International opportunities

Thanks to many generous donations from the United States and beyond, York can provide many different international opportunities to our students

The award allowed me to finance an internship at the UN. From attending meetings in the Security Council to reporting on issues surrounding the Syrian crisis, the experience has exceeded my expectations. I wrote for the second oldest student newspaper in the US and won an award at Columbia MUN.”

Orla Lavery, Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Rutgers University, New Jersey USA

I will forever be grateful to the donors who made my dream of studying abroad a reality. The experience was truly life-changing, and as a result of my time abroad I have vowed not to limit myself to seemingly ‘safe’ options, but instead to cast my net farther afield.”

Nicole Ayesu Nelson, Chemistry, University of British Columbia, Canada

I used the award to finance a two-week trip to Belgium, where I carried out research in the Belgian National Archives in Brussels. I found that studying new archival sources in French was an excellent opportunity to practice my language and primary source analysis skills.”
