Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends of the Department of Chemistry, we are pleased to announce that together we have raised over £815,315 towards the Chemistry at 50 Appeal, which was launched to mark the Department’s 50th anniversary last year.
Your gifts are already making a powerful impact by supporting students in achieving their career ambitions – with the first student bursary internships taking place over the summer – and by accelerating the development of globally important research in environmental and atmospheric chemistry.
We owe a particular debt of gratitude to Chemistry alumnus Dr Anthony H. Wild, whose personal commitment to match all donations to the Appeal has motivated so many of you to give. Tony’s enduring friendship and far-reaching philanthropy has enriched the Department for many years.
I found the summer research project a fantastic experience. I learned a lot of new techniques and I also got to see what goes on behind the scenes in a research environment. It was also amazing making compounds that had never been made before. Thank you!”
